Buying
Do I really work with you directly, not a team?
Yes. There’s no team to hand you off to — I scope, design, and deliver every package myself.
Why is everything priced upfront instead of quoted?
Because the scope is fixed. A fixed-scope package doesn’t need a sales call to price — it needs a published number, which is what’s on every service page and on /pricing/.
What if the package I want doesn’t quite fit my situation?
Message me through the contact page before you check out. If it’s genuinely outside what a listed package covers, I’ll say so rather than force-fitting your project into the wrong tier.
Can I buy more than one package at once?
Yes — add multiple packages to your cart, or come back for the next one once the first project ships. Some pairings, like Brand Identity Design plus Website Design & Build, are designed to work together.
Process
What happens right after I check out?
Your deposit clears, and you get a written scope document within 1 business day — what’s included, the timeline, and the revision count, before any design work starts.
How many revisions do I get?
Two rounds, included in every package. Most projects land inside that; additional rounds are billed at an agreed hourly rate, never added silently.
What do you need from me during the project?
A single point of contact who can approve direction, any existing brand assets or content up front, and reasonably prompt feedback at each review point. Full detail is on the Process page.
What if I go quiet for a few weeks?
The timeline in your scope document assumes reasonably prompt replies. Long gaps push your delivery date — I’ll flag it when it happens, but I can’t hold your slot open indefinitely.
Pricing & payment
How does the deposit work?
50% now books your slot and starts the written scope; the remaining 50% is due when final files are delivered, not before.
Can I pay in full instead of a deposit?
Yes — paying 100% upfront gets you 3% off the package price at checkout.
Is sales tax charged?
Maryland doesn’t currently apply sales tax to design services, so your order’s tax line shows $0.00.
What currency are prices in?
US dollars, for every package and add-on.
Delivery
What do I actually receive at the end?
It depends on the package — a live website, a brand guide and logo files, a Figma prototype, or a design system library. Every service page lists its exact deliverables and formats under "Deliverables & formats."
Do I own the final files?
Yes, in full, once final payment clears. Source files and complete commercial ownership transfer to you at that point — not before.
What if I’m not happy with the final result?
Two revision rounds are built into the process specifically to get you there before final payment. If you need to end a project partway through, the Refund & Cancellation Policy explains exactly how that’s handled.
Legal
Where is Design With Karl based, and what law governs the work?
Frederick, Maryland, USA. Engagements are governed by Maryland law, with venue in Frederick County.
Do you take on clients outside the US?
Yes — the studio works remotely worldwide. International buyers are covered under the Privacy Policy’s GDPR/UK GDPR section where applicable.
What’s your refund policy?
A full refund if you cancel 7 or more days before your kickoff date; a 15% scheduling fee applies inside 7 days; once work has started, the deposit is non-refundable, with the balance calculated as work completed plus 25% of the remaining phase. How is my data used?
Only to run your project and reply to you — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what’s collected and why.
