Refund & Cancellation Policy

01 — Booking

A package is booked once your 50% deposit (or full payment) clears at checkout. A written scope document is issued within 1 business day of booking.

02 — Cancelling before kickoff

Cancel 7 or more days before your agreed kickoff date and you receive a full refund. Cancel within 7 days of kickoff and you receive a refund of what you paid, less a 15% scheduling fee — your slot has been reserved and, at that notice, generally can't be resold.

03 — Cancelling after kickoff (kill fee)

Once work has started, the deposit is non-refundable. If you end the project mid-phase, the amount owed is calculated as work completed to date, plus 25% of the value of the remaining phase; any amount you've already paid beyond that is refunded to you.

04 — Digital deliverables are final on handoff

Once final files are handed over and final payment is made, the sale is complete. Delivered digital design work is non-returnable — there's no way to "return" a completed design the way you'd return a physical product.

05 — Revisions come before refunds

Two rounds of revisions are included in every package specifically so dissatisfaction gets resolved through the design process, not through a refund request. If you're not happy with a direction, say so during a revision round — that's what it's there for.

06 — Design Care Plan

Cancel the Design Care Plan at any time with 14 days' notice. The current billing month is not pro-rated if you cancel partway through, and unused hours from a given month do not carry over to the next.

07 — If the studio can't deliver

If Design With Karl is unable to deliver work you've paid for, all monies paid for the undelivered portion of the project are refunded to you in full within 10 business days.

08 — Chargebacks and disputes

If you have a concern about a charge, contact support@designwithkarl.com first — most issues are resolved faster that way than through a card dispute. Chargebacks and disputes that do proceed are handled under the laws of the State of Maryland.

09 — Consumer right of withdrawal (EU/UK buyers)

If you're located in the EU or UK, you generally have a statutory right to withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days. Because a design engagement begins promptly after booking (the written scope is issued within 1 business day, and work typically starts shortly after), by proceeding with checkout and requesting work to begin, you acknowledge that this right may be affected once work has started, consistent with the kickoff-based terms in §02–§03 above. Your rights under §02 (full refund 7+ days before kickoff) remain available regardless.
